Description 3-dimensional carved figure in standing position, probably representing a made-for-sale tourist carving that does not depict any known katsina; Figure's body is painted gray and he wears carved and painted turquoise-colored kilt, brown moccasins, commercially tanned leather belt with silver discs (concho belt) and a commercially tanned leather medicine pouch over his right shoulder; Case mask is gray on back and blue on front, with very narrow elongated yellow beak-like mouth and small black eyes; Mask is framed with blue wool; Neck ruff is made of green wool yarn; Two upright gray feathers and several smaller brown ones are glued to back of mask.

Description 3-dimensional carved figure in dancing pose, representing Sotung Taka (Laguna Corn Katsina or Laguna Gambler), who began appearing in Hopi villages ca. 1960 and appears in two forms, one clothed and the other bare chested; His torso is brown and he wears carved and painted black breechclout, fox skin tail, blue belt, brown moccasins, blue and pink yarn garters, pink yarn wristlets, blue cloth armbands, and blue yarn bandolier sashes; Case mask has green neck ruff, red tab ears and red and black beak and is painted with white and blue vertical stripes; White wool outlines ears and beak; 3 multicolored feathers glued to top of mask; Fan of small gray feathers and blue and pink yarn is glued to back of mask; Figure carries white cloth hoop in left hand and white stick in right hand.

Description 3-dimensional carved figurine in standing position (with upraised right arm), representing Tasap Yeibichai Kwa-um (Navajo Talking God Grandfather), who is a caricature of the principal Navajo deity, Talking God; He leads a group of Navajo-inspired katsinam during the Navajo Katsina Dance; He is dressed in purple shirt, black pants, brown moccasins, real buckskin cape, and painted leather and silver concho belt; His white case mask has painted interlocking squares for eyes and mouth, a painted blue cornstalk for a nose, and blue ears of corn painted on each cheek; 5 carved and painted eagle tail feathers rise from back of mask; Green neck ruff is carved and painted; Small feathers tied to back of mask; Remnant of cedar (?) branch remains in left hand.

Description 3-dimensional carved figurine in standing position, representing Mahu (Cicada Katsina); Figure's body is painted a flesh tone except for his arms which are blue and he is naked (with an erect penis) except for possible blue leggings and moccasins; Case mask is also flesh toned and bisected by a narrow groove that is painted in alternating black and white squares; Groove also extends along length of beaked mouth; Top and bottom of mask are framed in similar black and white bands; Mask is surmounted by two soft horns made from cloth, one of which is blue and the other flesh toned and both painted with alternating horizontal black bands; Blue whorl ears are decorated with feathers and white wool; Neck ruff is formed from bundle of pine branches.

Description 3-dimensional carved figure in standing position, representing Tumae or Tuma-öi (White Chin Katsina); Figure wears carved and painted black dress with white maiden's shawl, and real leather moccasins with buckskin leggings; Mask is divided horizontally with the bottom half painted red and the top half being green on right side and yellow on left side; Head is completely covered with black human hair which is cropped just above figure's eyes and on sides, but hangs down the back and is held in place by a leather headband; Carved and painted neck ruff is black and white; Cavity on right rear shoulder suggests he originally carried a basket or similar item. (This katsina is always male, so hair, clothing, and moccasins on this figure are completely wrong.)

Description 3-dimensional carved figure representing Koyaala (Koshari) (Hano clown), who is both sacred and profane and appears in every pueblo; Figure is mounted on wooden base, seated with legs spread out before him and knees slightly bent; He is holding a watermelon slice in his left hand, while the remainder of the watermelon rests in front of him; His white body is painted all over with black horizontal bands; He wears a painted black leather breechclout with buckskin belt, black leather garters and right wristlet, carved and painted brown moccasins, and buckskin pouch around his neck; Eyes and mouth are outlined in black, and his cap includes two upright black and white horns with buckskin fringes; His short cropped hair is tied with buckskin in back in pueblo-style chongo; Title “Tewa clown at watermelon break” is written on base in ball point ink, along with signature “N David ‘73” and artist’s full name and address (Neil R.
